The Psycho at Suzi's
the boy announced earlier in the day that we would have to be at psycho suzi's around 7 or 8 to beat the crowd. that doesn't really work out when he falls asleep on me for two hours and then takes an hour to get moving. so we left the house at 9... so be it.
when we got to psycho suzi's i looked around inside and saw all the glorious tacky bits. it looked like a glorified rec room and i so badly wanted to sit down and get to business. the boy so badly wanted to get the hell out of dodge. there wasn't a place for us to sit and the door was being eyed. thankfully a burly door man grabbed me and asked "just the 2 of ya?" that done, the boy and i did our best to get out of the way until the friendly doorman found us a seat.
there are 12 or so tiki drinks on the menu. we worked our way through all of them and a few that weren't on the menu. i got a big crush on the pizza there. it's the kind that you find in an old pizza parlor, where you can shove your face up to the glass and watch them throw on the toppings.
it was wonderful. i like getting smashed with the boy at tiki bars. i still have this fantasy in the back of my mind that we will be spending our next birthdays together at the mai kai. that's six months away and that proves that i'm a head case.
for those of you who live in the mini-apple please take me at my word when i say that psycho suzi's is a good thing. there are hipsters there but there are also jocks, middle-age drinkers and yahoos like me and the boy. the food is good and there is plenty to pick from. also, you can get a little mini cooler of beer to sit on your table. think of having your own variety of crap beer - ham's, schlitz, pbr, etc.
perhaps this place also looks especially appealing because i want to drink very badly right now.
