I'm back for a bit...

Snowball in Hell

02.02.04
so diaryland wasn't playing ball today. i wrote a damn entry and it got swallowed up in the ether. so be it.

it was quite busy today, here in the call center. snow fell yesterday while everyone was cuddled up to their tv watching the super bowl. snow fell last night while everyone slept off their over-consumption of alcohol. snow fell this morning as everyone pulled their carcases out of bed and into work...

or did they? not our call center. minneapolis got dumped on, folks. left and right, top and bottom covered in snow. so people called in. i would have but i managed to appear front and center at work because i had to train a class.

i'm a trainer for "giant corp". i had a big class that was scheduled for last monday, then moved to last tuesday, then moved to this morning. well, with the weather being uncooperative the call center wasn't meeting its service levels... i'll spare you the exciting details - they came and got my class after our first break.

now there have been many times during a training class that i have daydreamed about having my class be cancelled. usually when i was hungover and always on mondays. today though i had managed to come to work after only having one guiness the day before AND getting to bed at a decent time. i came to play... and no one else did.

so what with my class being yanked out from under me i looked ahead to a day full of hiding in the training room and answering e-mail. no dice. the powers that be asked that i take calls in the call center.

great, a chance to flaunt my ineptitude! but i did it, kids. mommylap had a free seat next to her. it felt like old times at that other call center. back in the days before i went berserk and ended up training people to take calls instead of taking them myself.

i made it through and i actually feel a bit better because unbeknownst to me i have the skills. which is a good thing because i'll be back in there tomorrow, training my ass off.
